Standard Published Regulating Requirements for Main Equipment in UHV AC Transmission Projects

The first IEC international standard in the field of UHV AC, "IEC TS 63042-301 UHV AC Transmission Systems - Part 3: On-site Handover Tests," led and compiled by the China Electric Power Research Institute, was approved and published recently.
It was recently learned from China Electric Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. that the first IEC international standard in the field of UHV AC, "IEC TS 63042-301 UHV AC Transmission Systems - Part 3: On-site Handover Tests," led and compiled by the institute, was approved and published recently.
The standard was initiated in 2015 at IEC TC 122 (Technical Committee on UHV AC Transmission Systems), and the third working group (WG3) was responsible for its compilation. Experts from China, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, India, and other countries participated in the standard compilation.
This standard combines the achievements and experience of China's UHV AC transmission technology, bases itself on the characteristics of UHV equipment, and comprehensively considers the handover tests required after long-distance transportation of UHV equipment to the site, comprehensively and systematically stipulating the key technologies for on-site handover tests of UHV AC equipment. The standard covers the items, methods, criteria, equipment, and implementation of on-site handover tests for UHV AC equipment such as UHV transformers, circuit breakers, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), voltage and current transformers, reactors, series compensation devices, insulators, disconnectors and earthing switches, and high-speed earthing switches.
The publication of this standard will play a positive role in regulating the on-site test requirements for main equipment in UHV AC transmission and transformation projects, providing a standard basis and technical guarantee for UHV AC engineering construction and testing. It will effectively support the construction of UHV AC power grids, fill the gap in relevant international standards for UHV AC, significantly improve the international competitiveness of China's AC transmission technology and equipment, and promote the acceleration of China's UHV AC transmission technology standards and equipment "going global." This is a major achievement of the State Grid Corporation of China in implementing its "Going Global" strategy.
